候鳥 Migratory Bird
Words and Music by Ashin
There’s a note on the ‘fridge, food on the table
Rice in the steamer, nobody’s here
The message in the telephone is still waiting
How should a person arrange his reaction
And where am I going, give me some answers
Life resembles a natural disaster, but we’re already used to
that
Day unendingly turns into night, on and on unceasingly
at the next intersection do I go straight or do I turn?
We grow up too slowly, grow old too quickly,
We’ve waited too long, the conclusion is too hard to guess
My story has been scattered in the wind, I’ve never
anticipated my future
So right now all I want is to find a last bit of warmth and
comfort
In the emptiness of a long night it’s all still undigested
The soul has always been greedy, for only a brief moment,
glorious
These two lips’ loneliness has turned them uncontrollable
I don’t want to keep guessing about the things that took
place last night
And the person on the pillow beside me keeps changing
Every time mistakenly thinking this time it’ll last forever
Note: Ashin noted in his book, happy BIRTH.day,
that in this song's lyrics, he was trying to capture the feeling of
home or family (家), but without ever using the word. After much
effort, he came up with the opening: 冰箱上有字條, 桌上有菜, 電鍋裡面有飯, 沒有人在.
He was so excited about it, that the rest of the song practically
wrote itself.
