Countdown to 5/8

But, but, but… why?

Well sodafans, that is the day of the scheduled release of album number four for sodagreen. Yay!

Let’s be honest here, though. Doesn’t the title of the album, “Spring. Sunlight (春.日光),” bring to mind another recent album you might have heard? I dunno, but that “春” accompanied by the period is a little, erm, “後。青春期的詩.” Well, no matter, the first song, “Sunlight (日光)” can be heard here. I have to say, in spite of my many recent album purchases, I’m ready for some new sodagreen. They’ve got a huge challenge before them, though, trying to follow up on Unparalleled Beauty.

Preorders in Taiwan start tomorrow. When asked if their busy schedule of the last two years, which has had them running around the globe and working on this new album, has caused them to give up opportunities to make appearances and extra money, the band answered that as long as they have enough money to live, they’re fine. Producer Will Lin added that they’re content to just make music; they have no need to go and study ballet. (Oh, snarky! Take that, Jolin! Now I like Will Lin even more….)

Wow, that’s so sudden. I’ll be totally honest: I have to prepare myself emotionally for anything new from Sodagreen.

  2. hobielover says:

I agree that it’s rather sudden, but the only preparation I need is financial. Then, there’s the matter of what this does to my wishlist, ahhh! I may have to put off Peng Tan some more if I get too impatient.

The new song sounds good. What is it with all the periods recently? I mean, LeeHom also had “心.跳,” so this is at least the third time I’ve seen an album name with that period thrown in this past half of a year, though this obviously does bear more similarity to Mayday’s album title.

  3. Dawn says:

Um, you misunderstood the second article. When they were asked about running around the globe, they weren’t talking about the last two years, but the NEXT two years. – “将于2年内跑遍台东、伦敦、北京和柏林等地录制4张专辑”

This news is further confirmed by a blog entry in Qing Feng’s blog, where he mentioned “兩年要出四張專輯的計劃”, which means they are going to release four whole albums in two years! And I trust that they (obviously!) aren’t going to compromise quality for quantity. I am so psyched! :D

    Holy…

This is probably the best news I’ve heard in weeks. And it’s been a great few weeks, so… Such a sudden announcement! So much to look forward to this year, but this’ll be the one I’m looking forward to most.

  5. Merry says:

Dawn, I was focused on this album, and didn’t pay much attention to the details. And as much as I love sodagreen, I don’t see how even they could release four albums of new material in such a short time period and not have the quality suffer (who are they, SHE? What’s the rush?), unless of course they mean they’ll be recording live albums in Taidong, London, Beijing and Berlin.

  6. midori says:

Omg! I can’t wait! It is rather sudden huh? I knew they were working on an album but didn’t know it’d be released this soon! All the better though! And yes, their last album is a tough one to follow up on.

BTW, Zhang Yun Jing (張芸京) releases her album on the same day.

  7. Hikaru says:

i just listen to Sodagreen new song title “Sunlight”. I think this album will be different from their previous albums & I also agree sodagreen have got a huge challenge to follow up on “Unparalleled Beauty”.

I will get my hand on the new album, I hope they will fly over to Singapore for autograph session & concert. I had a great time during their concert in Singapore las year.

  8. Evie says:

does anyone know if mayday will make a stop in the U.S. during their concert tour? and where?
    thanks!

  9. Steve says:

Ah, Evie, now that’s the big question, isn’t it? I haven’t heard anything about a U.S. date, but I’ll look into it. That would be huge.
