九號球 The Nine Ball
Music by Monster, Words by Ashin
Escape, jump over the wall, I can only escape from inside the
classroom
Flee to freedom, the familiar corners, there are people
waiting for me, provoking me with their smiles
Today who’ll break, make who taste bitterness
On the green horizon, I bump into color, sink
Perhaps with this cue I once again have no way to get a ball
in
Just like in my life, continuously making mistakes
Perhaps with this life, I’m always chasing after that nine
ball
Yet forget who loves me
Yet forget who covers me
It used to be my book bag was so full there was no room for
dreams, so just give up a little
The future us, how will we live, gazing at the cue ball, for
a time I don’t try to think
The sky slowly turns red, shadows crawl up to fill the pool
table
Lose, win, there’s no result, just like life, elusive
Note:
In English, of course, the more popular billiards idiom is "to
be behind the eight ball." Here, however, the reference is
to playing a different game, in which players try to get balls one
through nine into the pockets in order; the last ball to go in, then,
is the nine ball. Always chasing after the nine ball, then, means
always making the effort, but never actually winning.
